For all manufacturers, having reliable machinery that runs efficiently and avoids lengthy down-time is key. CWM Automation’s comprehensive health checks are a simple and cost-effective method of ensuring that your machinery is working to its optimum level and no longer the least effective part of your production line. Read our blog to explore more benefits of booking your machine in for its all-important health check.
What is a health check?
CWM Automation’s health checks consist of a thorough inspection to identify how effectively your machinery is operating. Our highly skilled engineers will pay close attention to all aspects of your machine, particularly the wearable and heaviest-worked parts, including seals, bearings and O-rings.
You will be given the opportunity to discuss any queries or concerns about your machinery with our experienced engineers, who will also offer you advice on machine maintenance and information on some of our newer applications.
Following your machine audit, our engineers will provide you with some written recommendations for any improvements that could be made, including increasing efficiency, improving how your machine interacts with the rest of your line and optimising container handling. Our dedicated After-Sales Service team will be on-hand to assist you with any spare parts orders or follow-up services that are required.

This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on our dedicated Controls & Electrical department, who boast a wealth of knowledge in building and integrating control systems. Catering for a variety of needs in a wide array of industries, CWM’s team of Controls Engineers have developed vast amounts of experience in system control design.
PLC & HMI Software Integration
CWM’s engineers are software integration specialists, capable of working with software and components from various different manufacturers, including Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation), Mitsubishi, Omron, Telemechanique, GE and Siemens.
We can utilise manufacturer operating platforms to create software that meets exact customer requirements, before integrating it with the physical system. Customers can purchase our software integration services independently, or alongside machine build projects to give a complete in-house production from the ground up.
Servo Drive Systems
CWM are experts in creating control systems for servo driven machinery. Our team can design servo mechanism systems that cater for many different requirements, including product depositors, indexing conveyors and rotary indexing tables, decorative filling systems, container eject systems and controlled pick and place systems.
Servo drive systems offer a number of benefits, with the main one being increased levels of precision. This level of precision requires significantly more settings and demands, which can be difficult to integrate. However, CWM’s keen eye for detail and extensive experience handling these systems means that our team are more than capable of designing them.
SCADA Control Systems & Integration
SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a type of industrial control system that can monitor and control industrial processes in the physical world. These systems are most often associated with large scale processes:
- Industrial Processes – manufacturing, production, power generation, fabrication and refining.
- Infrastructure – water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, oil and gas pipelines, electrical power transmission, wind farms, civil defence siren systems and large communication systems.
- Facility processes that occur in both public and private facilities that can monitor and control heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems and energy consumption.
SCADA systems can be designed to monitor and control a whole site, where most actions are controlled automatically by RCU’s or PLC’s. CWM’s experts are capable of working with customers to develop and integrate specialist SCADA software, fully adapted to meet their company needs. Built with components that will protect against harsh conditions often presented by large scale industry process plants, customers can be assured that CWM’s systems are built to the highest standards.
As well as building SCADA systems, our engineers can evaluate existing systems to ensure that they are operating efficiently and pose no security risks.
If you have any queries about our controls and electrical departments, or would like to learn more about the solutions they can offer you, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Simply give us a call on 01427 614 222 or email email@example.com.
As part of our After-Sales Service, we offer individualised service contracts, sold alongside machinery to keep it operating at its optimum level.
Our service contracts are designed to assist customers with the ongoing maintenance of their machinery. Contracts are carefully constructed to reflect aspects such as the frequency and degree of service activity, the operating environment and production seasonality. Our aim is to work with customers to make maintenance as simple and stress-free as possible and to deliver high-quality customer service along the way.
Investing in one of our service contracts brings you a number of benefits: the main advantage being regular machine servicing. CWM recommends that a machine should be serviced a minimum of 2 times per year, however, customers can tailor their contracts to suit their own servicing requirements.
During a service, our highly skilled engineers perform a thorough inspection on your machinery and ensure that it is working efficiently. Once the service is complete, a written report detailing any recommendations the engineers may have to keep your machine’s health intact will be supplied. Support will be provided on start-up of your production to ensure that machinery is in full working order following the service.
Replacement of consumables during scheduled services is an additional benefit that accompanies a service contract.
Customers who enter into a service contracts with us will also have access to out-of-hours contact with our Project/Controls Manager’s, who will offer assistance and deploy engineers to your site if necessary. Online remote support can also be provided to avoid costly machinery down-time.
Would you like to learn more about our service contracts and how CWM can maintain the health and efficiency of your machinery? Get in touch with our dedicated Spares & Service department by calling 01427 614 222 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and they will be happy to assist you.
For many of us, the start of Spring is typically associated with cleaning and organising. So, why not make this the season that you organise your spares and ensure that you have everything you need to keep your machinery running smoothly?
Why are spares important?
When a customer’s machine is due to be delivered, our dedicated Spares & Service team will put together a tailor-made recommended spares pack that includes all of the parts required to keep their machinery operating efficiently. Spares can be ordered as and when they are needed, however, we do recommend having certain items in stock at all times.
Spares are essential assets to maintaining productivity. Should a machine breakdown occur, repairs can be quickly and effectively completed by having these recommended spares on-hand. This, therefore, ensures that costly production down-time can be avoided.
It is especially important to keep your spares inventory stocked up during peak manufacturing periods, when your machinery is running more frequently than it is used to. Items such as seals and O-rings can become worn quickly when machinery is operated on a regular basis, therefore, having these readily available will prevent any major disruptions to production while waiting for spares orders to be placed/arrive.
